James McTeigue, Hugo Weaving, Natalie Portman Better known for their roles as Agent Smith in the Matrix and Queen Amidala / Padme in Star Wars, once again these two great stars are acting in a show that is not quite unlike the trilogies both acted in before: freedom fighters seeking to overthrow a fascist state that is ruled with a totalitarian hand.
When V blows up two public landmarks and takes over the government controlled airwaves, and urges his fellow citizens to overthrow the government and fight tyranny, Evey finds herself proving to be the unexpected ally of V, and together seek to fight and defeat this fascist state of Britain. What is unexpected and amusing about the show is that Britain is turned into the heinous state which rules with an iron fist, instead of our usual World War II countries. One will find that the themes in V for Vendetta are not quite unlike the Matrix, which is not surprising considering the Wachowski Brothers, who made the Matrix, wrote this script. So catch V for Vendetta, and don't miss any of the other shows above either! |
