Ladies, grab those tissues. If you dig movies that smatter with vows of everlasting love and dramatic passion, this adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' best selling novel will be good exercise for your tear ducts.

The NotebookIn The Notebook Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling) and Allie Hamilton (Rachel McAdams) meet as teenagers in a pre-World War II setting of Seabrook, a town along the coast of North Carolina where they are swept in the fervour of young love.

Their romance is a blend of two worlds: Noah, poor, steady, does manual work for a living; Allie, affluent, vivacious, enjoys painting. The lovers are eventually separated but a few years on, just when they've managed to move on, (Allie is to marry Lon, a handsome charming soldier), fate shows them a path where they could be together again.

Their story is told within the movie by Duke (James Garner), who reads the details of the love story from a notebook to an ailing Allie Calhoun (Gena Rowlands). Moving and passionate, The Notebook (check out the New Line Platinum Series) attempts to reignite the myth of eternal, enduring love.
