Ever dreamt of being James Cameron writing your Titanic, or the Wachowski Brothers writing V for Vendetta in verbose verse? Now, you can validate your dream, although you may not make the millions that James did, or win an Oscar for it. This year, Panasonic once again brings you the Panasonic-MDA Digital Film Fiesta. With more than $60,000 up for grabs to the winners, this year's fiesta promises to be even more interesting than last year's. Two categories are available for the promising writer and promising director, the National Scriptwriting Competition and the High-Definition Short Film Competition. This competition is the only one in Singapore that gives scriptwriters a chance to put their scripts onto the film strip, and possibly on the small screen, to be watched by over 300,000 households in Singapore. Local scriptwriters who have made their successes in the region such as Esan Sivalingam (writer of local TV sitcoms, Under One Roof and Phua Chu Kang) will be there to guide and assist you in your baby steps to national fame. The theme for this year is Free Your Ideas, and organisers hope that participants will be motivated, and be willing to break the conventions to create their own style and space for themselves. For more details on submission dates, do refer to their web site, www.digitalfilmfiesta.com. |
