It's no secret that He's Just Not That Into You Here, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Connelly and Drew Barrymore all compete for screen time in roles that most people will recognize from real life. Aniston is Beth, who has lived for years with her boyfriend (Ben Affleck) but he's so content he won't pop the question. Barrymore falls into her trademark role, the funny girl, as she hangs out with a lot of fun guys who just happen to be gay. Then there's Scarlett Johansson, as a femme fatale Anna, who steals Janine's (Jennifer Connelly) husband Ben (Bradley Cooper) while she leads on the unsuspecting Connor (Entourage's Kevin Connolly). It's a smorgasbord of couples and none of them are particularly happy with what they've got. There are plenty of humorous situations that lift this rom-com a notch above the cliché bin. But then again, given this cost and the premise it's based on, the fairly generic romantic material will play best on DVD. |
