The Affair of the Necklace, based on true events during the waning years of the 18th century, is of an aristocrat named Jeanne, tragically orphaned by her parents, who were direct descendents of Henry II.
A woman way ahead of her time, Jean de la Motte-Valois, was a beguiling, unconventional woman who broke all the rules and masterminded an ingenious and perilous conspiracy that scandalously incriminated the rich and famous; it may well have paved the way to the guillotine for Queen Marie Antoinette and King Louis XVI and dismantling 800 years of absolute monarchy.
